Kinsman plans Flag Day event
FLAG DAY EVENT: A Flag Day ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the flag pole at Kinsman Center Square, Route 7, hosted by the Women’s Auxiliary of the local American Legion Post 506 on Route 87. There will be a short service and flag raising. The legion post will serve refreshments.
RETIREMENT CEREMONY SET: Cub Scout Pack 143 and Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home will hold an American flag retirement ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday at the flag pole in the veterans’ section of Niles City Cemetery.
FOOD PANTRY TO HELP RESIDENTS: The Trinity Baptist Church community food pantry will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church for those residents needing emergency assistance. For information, call 330-719-3139.
BENEFIT TO HELP WOMAN: A benefit will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Williamsfield Community Center, Williamsfield, to benefit Jennifer Burdick Buckley, who is battling brain cancer and receiving treatments. The event will include a Chinese auction, 50-50 drawing, dinner and other raffles which will help Buckley with her medical and daily needs.
FUNDRAISER SET: A “No Kid Hungry” bake sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Walmart on Elm Road, Warren. The event is being hosted by Betty’s Angels and the Good Shepherd Community Church. This is a national organization that supplies food for children at school, after school, and for summer food programs.
CHAMPIONS AMONG US: The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley will hold its eighth annual “Champions Among Us” event, sponsored by PNC Bank, and presented by Covelli Enterprises, to be held on Monday at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. for a silent / Chinese auction. Dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m. followed by the program and live auction.
