Cancer Survivor Day planned
CENTER HOSTS CANCER SURVIVORS: The Hope Center for Cancer Care will hold the fourth annual Cancer Survivor Day from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Champion Presbyterian Church, 4997 Mahoning Ave., Champion. The event will include speaker Amanda Joy Hall, a four-time cancer survivor and vocalist, a live butterfly release and vocalist Kenneth Umeck.
CORNHOLE EVENT TO HELP ANIMALS: Cornhole 4 Paws Tournament will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at the ITAM No. 29, 625 High St., Warren. The event will include a 50-50 raffle, Chinese auction and drawing. All proceeds from the event will help Animal Pawtectors.

LIBRARY HOLDS KICK-OFF PARTY: A summer reading kick-off party will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Cortland Branch Library, 578 Lakeview Drive. Nate the Great will perform magic, and there will be crafts and refreshments.
TRAINING COURSE OFFERED: The Ohio Police Officers Training Association and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office will conduct an Active School Shooters Training Course from 8 a.m. to noon June 18 at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, 2121 Reno Drive N.E., in Louisville, Ohio. The training is hosted by the Office of Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Youngstown.
The goal of the workshop is to empower school staff to intervene with students who could pose a danger to schools and promote communication with local law enforcement. Deadline for registration is Friday, which can be made by calling Cheryl Zalac at 330-744-8451.
