Tea to promote cancer awareness

TEA TO HELP BREAST CANCER AWARENESS: The Youngstown Community Health Center and American Cancer Society will co-host a Mother-Daughter Tea for breast cancer awareness from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Youngstown Community Health Center, 726 Wick Ave., Youngstown. There will be educational stations set up to discuss breast cancer awareness. There will be free raffles, gift baskets and tea and refreshments.

TELLING OF THE RESCUE MISSION: Michelle Beauchene of the Warren Family Mission will be the guest speaker at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Lake Vista of Cortland, 303 N. Mecca St. Beauchene will speak on the mission programs and services. Two program graduates will share their stories and tell of the help they received.

AN EVENING OF BLUES: An Evening of Blues with Kristine Jackson will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library. Jackson is an award-winning vocalist and songwriter. “Latin Rhythms from Mambo to Hip Hop” will be the topic for the fifth in the America’s Music Program series at 6 p.m. today at the library.

MEETINGS TO DISCUSS REVITALIZATION: Two public meetings will be held at 6 p.m. today and May 15 at the Girard Multigenerational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., for residents of the Parkwood Area of Girard. The meetings will discuss the neighborhood revitalization grant to be submitted to the Ohio Development Service Agency in June seeking a $300,000 grant. The grant can be used for various types of infrastructure improvements in the target areas, such as street, sidewalk and park improvements.

ADOPTION AGENCY PLANS MEETING: Northeast Ohio Adoption Services invites Mahoning Valley adults, couples or singles who are considering adoption or giving foster care to a school-age child to stop in for an informal information session from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at NOAS offices, 5000 E.
