Program to discuss Civil War
CIVIL WAR PRESENTATION TO LAUNCH PROGRAMMING: The Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will host Civil War expert Allen C. Guelzo of Gettysburg, Pa., who will present “Was the Civil War the Second American Revolution?” at 7 p.m. Saturday at the new Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center, 325 W. Federal St., Youngstown. The event will launch educational programming at the center. Guelzo is the director of Civil War Era Studies and a professor of history at Gettysburg College. ASSOCIATION SETS CLEANUP: The Kenmore Neighborhood Association is sponsoring a neighborhood cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Volunteers will be picking up litter in southeast Warren from U.S. Route 422 to East Market Street and from Woodbine to Eastland.

SUPPORT GROUP HELPS SURVIVORS: The Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital Stroke Support Group will meet at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the hospital’s boardroom. All stoke survivors and their family members are welcome. Call Cindy at 330-841-3891.
SOCIETY HOSTS SALE: The Hubbard Historical Society will sponsor a spring garage sale Friday and Saturday at Mageros Candies, 132 N. Main St. All proceeds from the sale will support the mission of the society. Donations for the sale, which are tax deductible, will be accepted at the business during regular business hours. No clothing or furniture will be accepted.
OPEN HOUSE: Shepherd of the Valley, 4100 North River Road, Howland, will hold an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. The public is invited to tour the independent homes. Refreshments will be served.
TOWNSHIP HOSTS SALE: Liberty Township Schools will hold a surplus auction and trunk sale at 9 a.m. Saturday with the auction at 11 a.m at the old Liberty High School, 317 Churchill-Hubbard Road. Items include school furniture, tools and miscellaneous pieces. The Liberty Band Boosters will hold a trunk sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with proceeds to help Liberty instructional music program.
