New car show to be held in Niles

GREAT FLOOD PART OF PRESENTATION: The Great Easter Flood of 1913 will be the topic of a free illustrated presentation at 2 p.m. June 4 at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren. Guest speaker is author Trudy E. Bell, who has been researching the Great Easter 1913 storm system, devastation and legacies since 2003.

The Great Easter Flood of March-April 1913 was the most widespread natural disaster suffered by the United States. It claimed more than 1,000 lives in parts of 15 states – including Ohio. The program is free.

NILES PLANS CAR SHOW: The Avenue and Main in Niles will hold the first-annual Downtown Niles car show from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday off Main Street. There will be various prizes awarded, including the People’s Choice trophies.

COMMUNITY GARAGE SALES: Howland Township is hosting a community garage sale Friday and Saturday as part of its “Think Green, Go Green” program. Residents are encouraged to hold sales on the two days. There will be no charge for sale permits. The names of all the homes participating will be compiled on a list.

ASSOCIATION TO MEET: The Southwest Neighborhood Association will meet at 6 p.m. today at New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, 1590 Tod Ave. S.W., Warren. For information, call 330-301-8782.

EVENT TO HELP MAN: A benefit to help Albert Harris of New Bedford, Pa., who is in need of a liver transplant, will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Union Township fire hall, 304 S. Scotland Lane, New Castle, Pa. The event will include a dinner, door prizes, Chinese auction, bake sale and 50-50 raffle.

Bob Evans Restaurants held a community fundraiser, donating 15 percent of their sales on Operation Save My Son day held recently.
