Hubbard to help tornado victims
HUBBARD TO HELP TORNADO VICTIMS: Hubbard schools is planning to fill a semi truck for the families of the Oklahoma tornado disaster. Donations will be collected from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday through June 9.
Items can be dropped off at Roosevelt School gymnasium behind the board of education, 108 Orchard Ave., Hubbard. Donations will be delivered directly to Oklahoma State School Boards Association for tornado relief.
Items needed include clothing, nonperishable food items, personal hygiene and school supplies. For information, call Rhonda at 330-647-7742.
SAND FOR CHILDREN: The Hubbard Rotary Club is delivering sand to children within the city and township. The project allows new sand for the summer for their sandboxes. Sand will be delivered on June 8, with raindate June 15. For orders, call Mike at 330-534-0890 by Monday.
COLLECTION OF HOUSEHOLD ITEMS: Seasonal household hazardous waste collection will be held from 9 am. to noon Saturday at the waste recycling facility, 5138 Enterprise Blvd., Warren. Items to be collected include paint, oil, anti-freeze, batteries, propane tanks, and electronic equipment. There is a fee for television sets. For information, call 330-675-2673.
PARK OFFERS SUMMER PROGRAM: The Howland Township Summer Youth Sport and Recreation program is offering beginner and advanced swimming classes from 10 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. the weeks of June 3 to 13 and June 17 to 27. Also being offered is pottery from noon to 4 p.m. June 3 to 7 at the Trumbull Art Gallery.

GOWNS TO BE SHOWN: The Upton Association will hold an open house at 2 p.m. Sunday and feature bridal gowns of the 1920s and ’30s at the Upton House, 380 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren. The event is free.
The association is planning a garage sale in July, with donations being accepted by calling 330-538-3182. Anyone wishing to volunteer to help at the garden can call 330-856-6120.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Habitat for Humanity is in need of volunteers to help in the warehouse one to two weekends a month and to help with picking up of donations which are being accepted. No clothing items. Call Kim at 330-395-1524.
