Free fun day set in Hubbard
HUBBARD PLANS SUN DAY: A free ”Fun, Food and Fitness in Sun Day” will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Jones Fields (Mattinatt Park), Hubbard. The program is being sponsored by the Hubbard City Parks and Recreation Department. If the weather is warm, there will be water games, with towels optional for those attending. Parents and guardians are required to attend with child. Rain date is June 9.
TOWNSHIP OFFERS SCRAP TIRE COLLECTION: Howland is offering a scrap tire drop-off for township residents only from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to June 7. Residents may drop off a maximum of eight passenger tires only with no rims at the Public Works Department, 3600 N. River Road.
ASSOCIATION PLANS WORK: The Newton Township Cemetery Association is planning to begin repair work on headstones at Pricetown Cemetery, which is at Pricetown Methodist Church. The work is scheduled to be done starting Monday and to be completed in one week. Volunteers are needed to help. The association is also selling 2013 and 2014 calendars as a fundraiser. They are available by calling 330-872-3116 or at the Newton Falls Alumni Reunion being held June 15. Both calendars are scenes of stores in the Newton Falls area.
LIBRARY PARTICIPATES IN PROGRAM: More than 7,500 libraries around the world are participating in ”Big Library Read,” a two-week pilot program launched in mid-May that enables library patrons to simultaneously access and read a single eBook title until Saturday. The title is “The Four Corners of the Sky” by Michael Malone and can be read on almost any device. The Big Library Read will demonstrate the effect of library eBooks lending on literacy and reading as well as on book sales. Participating libraries are featuring ”The Four Corners of the Sky” on their home pages for no cost during the pilot period.
