Falls, Lordstown go purple for Relay

PAINTING THE TOWN: The Newton Falls and Lordstown Relay For Life will “Paint the Town Purple” beginning Monday to show support for the Relay and the American Cancer Society.

The public can participate in painting Lordstown and Newton Falls. Ribbons, balloons and purple decor can be used. A meeting to discuss the Relay will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Newton Falls Community Center and all teams are invited.

MUTT WALK PLANNED: The John F. Kennedy Catholic School group Paws With a Cause will sponsor a Strut Your Mutt Walk from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Packard Park, Warren. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine. There is an entry fee.

Money raised from the event will be used to help offset the cost of spaying and neutering homeless pets or pets whose families may not have the funds for the procedure.

The event is also being hosted by TNR of Warren, Cats Are People Too, Friends for Paws and Weeping Willows German Shepherd Sanctuary.

TRACTOR CLUB HOLDS SHOW: The Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County will hold its annual spring show Saturday and Sunday at the club’s grounds, 1653 Ridge Road, Vienna. There will be a food booth.

ROCK ‘N’ ROLL CONCLUDES SERIES: “America’s Music Program: Rock ‘n’ Roll” will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave., Warren, and will be the final musical program on some of America’s most enduring popular music genres.

FARM MARKET CONTINUES: The Howland Farmers Market will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the gazebo park, East Market Street. There will be baked goods and specialty products.

LIBERTY SETS CLEANUP: Liberty Township will hold its annual spring curbside cleanup from Monday to May 24. Residents who are current active customers of Allied Waste / Republic Services are eligible to participate in the cleanup. Items should be placed at curbside on the regular service day. Appliances will be accepted but if they contain freon they need to be tagged to show that the freon has been removed.

RED CROSS MEETING TO ELECT OFFICERS: The American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley will hold the annual meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday at the chapter headquarters, 661 Mahoning Ave., Warren. The meeting will be followed by a volunteer appreciation celebration. This is the third annual meeting of the newly merged Red Cross. Election of officers will take place.

RUMMAGE SALE SET: Lordstown SCOPE will hold a rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the center located at the rear of the former Gordon D. James Career Center.
