Committee members sought

ALUMNI SEEK COMMITTEE FOR HALL OF FAME: LaBrae Schools’ Alumni Hall of Fame is seeking new committee members and new honorees. Committee members would attend four or five meetings per year, help choose honorees, and assist hosting the induction ceremony. Honorees must be at least a 10-year alumnus and a graduate of Braceville, LaBrae or Leavittsburg High Schools. They also must have made significant contributions to their community, their state, and / or on a world-wide basis. Honoree nomination forms can be downloaded from the LaBrae Schools’ website and must be received before June 3 by Cleda Gill Sanderson, 628 N. Leavitt Road., Leavittsburg, 44430 for the 2013 vote. LEGION HOLDS FLOWER SALE: American Legion Auxiliary Unit 699, Leavittsburg, will hold a Mother’s Day flower sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday to Saturday at the post, 201 S.Leavitt Road. All proceeds will be used for the Buckeye Girls State program and scholarships for LaBrae students.

CLINIC DAY TO BENEFIT FUND: The fifth annual Charity Clinic Day to Benefit The Bummer Fund will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Animal Care Hospital, 47 Hall Ave., Hubbard. The Bummer Fund is a non-profit organization which provides financial assistance to pet owners in times of financial and medical crisis, as when large medical costs stand in the way of getting the appropriate care that animal companion needs.The event includes a gift basket raffle. TREE PRUNING SET: Richard States will give an illustrated presentation about pruning shrubs and trees at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Cortland Branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 578 Lakeview Drive. States is a retired high school horticulture educator and photographer. The program is free.

CONFERENCE TO HELP FAMILIES: A Strengthening the Family Conference will be held starting at 6 p.m. May 17 at 18 at t the Magnuson Grand Hotel and Conference Center, 9519 E. Market St., Howland. Keynote speaker is Bishop F. Josephus Johnson who has written the book, “God Is Bigger than Family Mess.” There will be breakout sessions.
