Writing contest deadline nears

ENTRY DEADLINE APPROACHES: Entries are due by 5 p.m. Saturday at the Newton Falls Public Library for the 28th annual Poetry and Short Prose Contest sponsored by the Friends of the Newton Falls Public Library. There is a limit of up to three entries per person; age range is third grade through adults. Poems may be any length; prose is limited to no more than 300 words. PETS FEATURED AT WEEKEND EVENT: A free pet expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Eastwood Expo Center, 5555 Youngstown Warren Road, Niles. Various pets and pet-related items will be shown.

CLUB TO MEET: The Warren Republican Woman’s Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. today at the Sunrise Inn on Market Street. Elizabeth Cole Clark will be conducting a tour of the City Hall at 10 a.m. before the meeting. To participate in the tour, meet in the City Hall lobby. LIBRARY SEEKS DONATIONS: Kinsman Free Public Library will be accepting donations for the spring book sale through April 27. Various items are needed and should be in good, clean sellable condition. Library staff will be on hand to help unload donations. Call 330-876-2461 for instructions on where to park. The sale will be held on May 4 and May 6 to 9.
