Shredding day set for park
SHREDDING DAY OFFERED: Howland Township will hold a Protect-N-Shred Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the gazebo park, corner of East Market and Willow Drive. Residents may bring up to five garbage bags of paper to be shredded by Protect-N-Shred of Cortland. The service is free to township residents. Howland Interact Club members will be available to assist residents.
MUSIC SERIES FOCUSES ON JAZZ: The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library will present “America’s Music: Swing Jazz” at 6 p.m. Tuesday with discussion. The free program is the fourth of a six-part musical program that features a film history of popular music ranging from blues to bluegrass to Broadway that focuses on some of America’s most enduring popular music genres.
SCIENCE WIZARDS AT WORK: Lordstown Library Branch, 1471 Salt Springs Road, will present Young Science Wizards at 4:30 p.m. Monday. Children will be able to experiment with the magical world of science. This hands-on program is designed for ages kindergarten to grade 3. Registration required by calling 330-824-2094.
FUNDRAISER TO HELP MAN: A fundraising event is scheduled for 9 am. July 20 at Lakeside Golf Course for cancer patient James J. Krokoski of Austintown, who has helped raise thousands of dollars over the years for cancer patients. Proceeds from the eighth annual Sunshine Benefit Golf Outing will be donated to Krokoski who was diagnosed with oral cancer a year ago. Since then, he has undergone two surgeries at the Cleveland Clinic. A 10-member committee is accepting prizes and monetary donations.
