Senior citizen prom planned
SENIOR CITIZEN PROM PLANNED: The Champion Senior SCOPE Center will host a “Senior Prom” from 5 to 9 p.m. April 19 at Champion High School. The event will include a 1950s theme with music by the Rex Taneri Band, dancing, crowning of a king and queen, food and refreshments. The king and queen will take part in Champion’s Memorial Day parade.
The event is open to people 55 and older, and one does not need to be a SCOPE member to attend. For information and tickets, call 330-847-8179.
SPRING FLING GROUP TO MEET: A spring fling social group will meet from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. Monday at the Warren Creative Learning Workshop, 2460 Elm Road, Suite 400, Warren. The event is for ages 16 to 20 and will include music and games. Admission is free.
Those attending can bring a potted flower to help beautify Warren. CLW works with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
FUNDRAISER FOR SCOUTS: Boy Scout Troop 105 will host a bake sale at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Jackson Milton High School gymnasium. There will also be a half-court shooting competition during the half time of the game.
Proceeds from the event will help the scouts with projects in the community and for camping trips.
BENEFIT TO HELP WOMAN: A breast cancer benefit to help Lori O’Connell McCale will be held from 4 to 11 p.m. April 13 at Weathersfield Fire Department McKinley Heights. The event will include a silent auction, 50-50 raffle and live music. McCale was just diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing treatment.
Proceeds from the event will help with her medical and daily needs.
PARTICIPANTS SOUGHT: Trumbull Mobile Meals is seeking volunteers to be part of the “People Power” program, which has employees volunteering on their lunch hour delivering meals to specific routes close to the place of employment on a specific day of the week. Estimated delivery time is one hour.
LIBRARY TO CLOSE FOR TRAINING: All Warren-Trumbull County Public Library locations and services will be closed on Wednesday for a staff in-service day. This includes the Main Library in Warren, branch libraries, the Bookmobile, and Homebound Library Service.
