Scout aims to sell 2,013 boxes of cookies

LIBERTY – Eleven-year-old Holly Goransson’s goal is to sell 2,013 boxes of Girl Scout cookies and use a portion of the proceeds to earn her scouting Bronze Award by making chaplets for the congregation at St. Rose Church in Girard.

Goransson, a member of Girl Scout Troop 418, already sold more than 1,300 boxes in four weeks, and is making nearly 200 chaplets for the church members. She said the chaplets are like mini rosaries.

Nancy Goransson said her daughter has already had 200 people place orders for the chaplets.

”She has been very busy making the chaplets and selling cookies,” she said.

For the next two weeks, she will be selling cookies and making chaplets from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday at the parking lot of One Stop Market, corner of Logan Avenue and Churchill Hubbard Road.

The Bronze Award is a high honor in Scouting, which involves a service project.

Holly said she has had fun with the sale and mentioned mint cookies are the most popular.
