Painting town purple for Relay

NILES TO PAINT TOWN PURPLE FOR RELAY: The American Cancer Society will “Paint the Town Purple” in celebration of its annual Relay For Life of Niles set for April 12 and 13 at the Ralph Infante Wellness Center.

Relay For Life volunteers have been contacting area groups, churches and businesses to encourage community members to form teams for the Relay For Life of Niles, and to decorate their property in purple for the week of April 7. Purple bows can be ordered for a suggested donation of $5, or a customized track sign for $25, and all proceeds will benefit the work of the American Cancer Society.

EGG EVENT PLANNED: Pleasant Valley Evangelical Church, 2055 Pleasant Valley Road, Liberty, will host a free communitywide Easter extravaganza from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. REPUBLICAN PARTY TO MEET: The Trumbull County Young Republicans will have their March meeting 7 p.m. today at the Republican Headquarters in the Eastwood Mall by Dillard’s. EVENT TO HELP AUTISM FUND: The Mocha Houses of Warren and Boardman will hold a “Wake Up and Smell the Coffee” fundraiser during April, which is Autism Awareness Month. All proceeds from sale of coffee packets is for Mikeyfied Fund for Adult Autism.

ASSOCIATION HOLDS FUNDRAISER: The Bristol Fire Association is presently conducting a portrait fundraiser.

The association had been in existence for more than 50 years and is trying to revitalize after a short period of inactivity. The association is made up of volunteers from Bristolville who serve on the fire department. The association raises money to purchase of equipment, training and facility items as well as nonprofit needs that come up.

A mailer was sent to 44,402 residents.

FREE DRUM CIRCLES: Youngstown State University SMARTS will be presenting a series of free community drum circles. Students and families from the SMARTS Beats program will be invited along with the YSU family and general public for evenings of fun, interactive drumming and refreshments. Events being planned are 7 p.m. April 10 and May 3 at St. Patrick’s Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown.
