Mission seeks items for Easter
ITEMS SOUGHT FOR MISSION EASTER EVENT: The Warren Family Mission is seeking donation for the upcoming free community Easter meal that will be held March 29 at the Elm Road location. Items needed for the meal are hams, canned pineapple, potatoes, pork gravy, stuffing, items for relish tray, assorted cheeses, assorted pies, cookies, rolls and butter, ginger ale, filled Easter baskets and candy. Children attending will receive a treat.
Donations can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 2671 Youngstown Road location or 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Elm Road location.
EVENT CANCELED: The U.S. Air Force has notified Stambaugh Auditorium that its upcoming spring tour, including the April 3 performance in Youngstown, has been canceled. No plans to reschedule have been announced. For more information, call 330-259-0555.
LAWN CARE TOPIC OF PROGRAM: Ohio State University Extension and the Trumbull County Master Gardeners will hold a workshop titled “Lawns and their Care” from 10 a.m. to noon on April 18 at 520 W. Main St., Cortland. During the class, participants will learn about turf species best suited for northeast Ohio and proper fertility and watering regimes. Participants can bring turf weed samples.

ASSOCIATION TO MEET: The Newton Township Cemetery Association will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the township hall. The association takes care of the seven township cemeteries and maintains headstones, documenting the information from the headstones and helping with events.
Plans are being made for spring cleaning and work on repairing broken headstones. For information, call 330-872-3116 or 330-872-0236. Donations may be sent to NTCA, P.O. Box 236, Newton Falls 44444. Yearly membership is $10.
FUND ESTABLISHED: Adalena Noel Mercado, daughter of Brittany Joseph and Rene Mercaso, was diagnosed with spina bifida while in the womb. She underwent utero surgery to repair her spine and remains in the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where she receives care. The family has been staying at the Ronald McDonald House in New Jersey since her surgeries.

WINNER GETS CAR: Canfield resident Myra Vitto was the winner of a new Chevrolet Cruze donated by Greenwood Chevrolet as part of the United Way Campaign incentive. Vitto’s name was drawn when the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley announced it exceeded its 2012 Campaign goal last month.
All donors who pledged $200 or more to the 2012 Campaign were eligible for the drawing.
