Betty’s Angels seek donations

WARREN – Betty’s Angels Inc. of Howland, which is a privately funded children’s shelter helping children who are victims of crime, was recognized by Project Be Somebody at a benefit held at DiVieste Banquet Rooms.

Betty Strawderman of Betty’s Angels said people are being sought to help with the organizing as it grows to serve more children. The shelter has been helping children since 1977.

She said Betty’s Angels seeks to protect the young victims of homelessness, sexual abuse, drug addiction and neglect and to help with with transition from emergency help to independence. Children receive 24-hour shelter protection in a ”loving long-term home.”

Items needed include toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, paper napkins, bath towels, blankets, underwear, socks, computers, pillows, dish cloths and silverware.

In the future needs will include donations for college funds, computers and transportation.
