Appraisal program planned at library
LIBRARY HOLDS APPRAISAL PROGRAM FOR FAMILY HEIRLOOMS: The Hubbard Public Library, 436 W. Liberty St., will host an antiques appraisal event with appraiser Jeff Byce and associate Dave Dangerfield at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Owners of antiques will be admitted to the appraisal area starting at 5:15 p.m. using a numbering system. Late-comers will be admitted up until 6:30 p.m. if there are still numbers available. Objects for appraisal may include items small enough, such as artwork, jewelry, glassware, and documents, for one person to carry without difficulty. Each person is limited to three items.
DRESSES COLLECTED FOR HAITIANS: “Little Dresses for Haiti” will be collected from community sewers at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Cornerhouse Christian Church, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road, Hubbard. The ongoing project has participants transforming pillow case or small piece of washable cotton fabric onto a sun dress to Haitian children. For information call 330-534-7629.
CHILDREN CAN TEST THEIR SENSES: The Oh Wow! Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology in Youngstown will hold “Test Your Senses” at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for grades fifth to eighth and Thursday for grades kindergarten to fourth. Admission is free.
ASSOCIATION TO MEET: The Northwest Neighborhood Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church, 1725 Drexel Ave., Warren. Guest speaker is Warren police Chief Tim Bowers.
VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT: Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer program of the Trumbull County Probate Court, are seeking volunteers. Training will be provided. Guardians become friends to seniors who may need a friendly class or visit. The next meeting is 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Perkins’ Family Restaurant, 1953 Niles Cortland Road. Call 330-675-2521.
