Someplace Safe sets fundraiser

AGENCY PLANS 10TH ANNUAL FUNDRAISER: Someplace Safe, Trumbull County’s domestic violence agency, will hold the 10th annual Dinner and Desserts fundraiser from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at DiVieste’s, 754 North River Road. The event will include basket raffle, live and silent auction, 50-50 raffle, and music by Take II. Cost is $35 per person or $65 per couple. Those attending are asked to call 330-393-3003 by Feb. 3. Proceeds helps the center.

CHURCH MOUSE EXPANDS: The Church Mouse, 26 W Broad St., Newton Falls will be expanding to include the store next door. The increased space will allow for larger items, such as furniture and appliances, to be donated. Those with donations of furniture, mattresses, box springs or an appliance that is in decent shape, should call 330-872-5574.

SOCIETY TO HOLD OPEN HOUSE: The Niles Historical Society will hold its monthly open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Ward Thomas House Museum, Brown Street. Volunteers are needed to help with tours. Docent training is available. To schedule group tours, call 330-544-2143.

LIBRARY HOLDS FAMILY DAY: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will hold a Family Art Day at 11 a.m. Saturday in the library’s auditorium. Each family will receive a canvas and painting materials to work together. Registration required.

APPLICATIONS SOUGHT: Newton Falls is accepting applications for seven qualified electors to serve on the charter review committee. Interested city residents are asked to call 330-872-0806 by Thursday.

CHURCH OFFERS CLOTHING PANTRY: St. Demetrios Church, 429 High St. N.E., Warren, offers a community dinner and clothing pantry from 5 to 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month to help those need. The church has also helped distribute food to Warner House and Christy House.
