Parent-student program planned

PARENT-STUDENT PROGRAM OFFERED: New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, 1590 Tod Ave., Warren, will offer a free parent-student program from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday with chess, games, movies, lunch and free tutoring for children in kindergarten to sixth grade. For reservations, call 330-766-0467.

GENEALOGY CLASS OFFERED: The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library will offer a Beginning Genealogy Class at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Local History / Genealogy Center, second floor of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, where participants can trace their family’s story. The class will teach beginners how to start a genealogical search by examining local resources.

CRAFT RETREAT SET: An all-day craft retreat will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the gymnasium at North-Mar Church, 3855 E. Market St., Warren. Admission is free. The event includes time to work on projects, attend classes on knitting, crocheting, and receive tips and hints about digital scrapbooking.

RESOURCES TO HELP AT-RISK YOUTH: Local organizations will receive new federal resources to provide educational and occupational training for at-risk Ohioans between the ages of 16 to 24 as competitive grants from the U.S. Department of Labor’s YouthBuild program were awarded to Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority which will receive $1,035,000.
