Inauguration events planned

ORGANIZATION SETS EVENTS FOR INAUGURATION: The Trumbull For Positive Change, a local grassroots organization, will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the IUE CWA Local 717 Union Hall, 2950 Sferra Ave., Warren.

The organization is spearheading local events in conjunction with the National Day of Service as part of the presidential inauguration weekend. People helping people is the general theme for the events.

EVENT TO HONOR WOMAN’S MEMORY: Integrity Beauty Women of Excellence will sponsor its third annual “Unforgettable” formal affair event in memory of Helen L. Albert from 5 to 11 p.m. March 30 at the Hippodrome in Warren. Dress request is for formal or semi-formal attire.

DONATION RECEIVED: Inspiring Minds has been selected by AT&T to receive a $7,500 contribution to support the AT&T Dream Big Program, which will emphasize science and technology through the use of after-school tutoring. The program will target ninth- and 10th-grade minority students from Warren City School Inspiring Minds works to engage, inspire and empower youths to reach their full potential through education and exposure to life-changing experiences and preparing students to graduate for the work force.

CIVIL WAR SESQUICENTENNIAL MARKS THIRD YEAR: The Ohio Civil War Sesquicentennial is starting its third year and the Ohio Civil War 150 Advisory Committee is having different themes for each month.

The yearly theme for 2013 is “Ohio’s Impact on the War,” and each month’s theme will focus on a different aspect of Ohio’s impact on the war effort. The themes also correspond to important historic dates.

GROUP RECEIVES HONOR: The Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership captured first place in a recent statewide photo contest that was held on Facebook and open to all Community Action Agencies across Ohio.

MYCAP received 273 votes to take the top honor, while the Community Action Agency of Columbiana County was second with 245 votes.
