Family art day planned at library

LIBRARY HOLDS FAMILY ART DAY: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will hold a family art day at 11 a.m. Saturday in the auditorium, where participants can paint, model or draw. Each family will receive their own canvas and painting materials to work together. Registration is required at 330-652-1704, Ext. 214.

ALLIANCE TO MEET: The Ohio Cultural Alliance will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Boardman. The program is “Old World Traditions Lost and Retained.” The Canfield Community Band will perform.

Cost is $25 per person and includes dinner. Those attending are asked to bring paper products to be given to the Heart Ministries.

UNITED WAY KICKS OFF PROGRAM: The United Way of Youngstown and Mahoning counties and Hometown Pharmacy will meet at 10 a.m. today to announce its continued partnership with the area’s Healthy Kids Free Vitamin Program. The event will take place in the library of Market Street Elementary School in Boardman.

Discussion will include feedback on the program and its continued effort to further educate parents and schools throughout Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull Counties. The Healthy Kids Free Vitamin Program was launched in March 2011.

FOUNDATION PLANS DANCE: The ECHO Charitable Foundation will host the fifth annual Valentine’s Day dance at 6 p.m. Feb. 9 at Yankee Lake Ballroom. Music is by Common Ground and deejay Mike Hammond. There will be a Chinese auction and 50-50 raffle. Tickets are $25 advanced at 330 509-1441 or 330 565-4515.

The foundation was established to provide assistance to Brookfield alumni and their families who have experienced catastrophic need.
