• YSU BUSINESS SCHOOL TO HOLD OPEN HOUSE: Youngstown State University’s Williamson College of Business Administration will hold an open house for prospective students 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 20. The event will be held at Williamson Hall, 221 N. Hazel St.

• VOLPINI GROUP AGENTS WIN STATE AWARDS: Agents from the Real Living Volpini Realty Group received the Ohio Association of Realtors President’s Sales Club Awards in honor of their sales the last two years. Award winners include Patty Helmick and Kim Griffin from the Howland office and Dennis Gonatas, Joyce Kissinger, Melissa Porter, Marsha Ruha and Marisa Volpini from the Boardman / Canfield office.

• VALLEY TRUCKING RECEIVES AWARD: Valley Industrial Trucks recently received the Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association’s Most Valuable Partner award for the third consecutive year. Eligible companies must satisfy criteria in industry advocacy, customer service and safety practices, business networking, continuing education and business best practices. Only 10 percent of the MHEDA membership earn the award.

•BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DAY SET: State Rep. Glenn Holmes, D-Girard, will host a business development day 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Kent State University at Trumbull. The event will feature information on state programs that help grow minority, female and veteran-led businesses, as well as information on state financing programs. Representatives from the Ohio Departments of Administrative Services, the Ohio Development Services Agency and local businesses are scheduled to attend.

• YBI COMPLETES FIRST WE GROW CLASS: The Youngstown Business Incubator’s Women in Entrepreneurship program recently finished the first of its four-week WE Grow classes, graduating nine women-owned businesses. The program is geared toward helping women entrepreneurs and includes lectures and coursework in marketing strategy and tactics, basic accounting, and audience research.

•CREDIT UNION DONATES TO HOSPITAL: The Associated School Employees Credit Union recently donated $500 to the Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley as part of its 10th annual radiothon. Michael J. Kurish, president / CEO of ASECU, said the credit union makes every effort to give back to the community.

•CHAMBER SEEKS AWARD NOMINATIONS: The Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber and MAGNET will present their second annual Excellence in Manufacturing award. Nominations are due Oct. 31 and the award will be presented during the chamber’s Economic Forecast Nov. 14 at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman. Nominees must be from Trumbull, Mahoning or Columbiana counties. Self-nominees are permitted. Criteria for the award include company longevity, growth, product innovation, and achievement.

• CELEBRATE POLAND RECEIVES CHECK: Home Savings recently presented Celebrate Poland with a $2,500 check to help sponsor the organization’s 2018 event. The event, held in June, provided musical entertainment, fireworks and food vendors for the Poland community.

• HOME SAVINGS DONATES TO YNDC: Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation recently received a $15,000 check from Home Savings for the renovation of YNDC’s Business Center on Glenwood Avenue. The organization will rent the space to small businesses.

People on the Move

• DOBSTAFF NAMED HOME SAVINGS VP: David P. Dobstaff of Youngstown recently joined Home Savings as vice president, commercial relationship manager. Dobstaff will focus on the bank’s commercial loan portfolio. He lives in Youngstown with his wife, Beth.

• NILES MAN EARNS ENGINEERING LICENSE: Michael P. Ciolli was recently presented his professional engineering license at the Ohio Statehouse. Ciolli earned a bachelor of engineering degree from Youngstown State University. He is employed by Sharon, Pa.-based HHSDR Architects / Engineers, Inc. as a civil-structural engineer.

New Businesses

• VINTAGE GOODS OPENS ON ELM ROAD: Curated Vintage Goods recently held a grand opening for its new store at 310 Elm Road N.E. The store features works of art, collectibles and toys from around the world. The store is owned by Mark Martof, a Warren native who recently returned to the area.
