Real estate merger to take effect today
WARREN — Today marks a new beginning for Northwood Realty Services as it formally merges with Pittsburgh-based Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices The Preferred Realty.
Steve Ferrebee, sales manager at Northwood’s Howland office, said the acquisition of the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices The Preferred Realty franchise and its affiliation with the Berkshire Hathaway brand and its chairman and CEO Warren Buffett, will take his business to a new level.
“This took us from being a major office in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania to opening doors statewide and elsewhere,” said Ferrebee. “Berkshire Hathaway is in every state with a multitude of offices.”
The merger creates a residential real estate giant in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania — No. 1 in the region in volume, sales and active listings — that will include more than 1,800 agents and more than 50 offices, stated a news release.
Ferrebee said the Northwood Realty Services’ website, signage, buildings and other materials will change.
Northwood, founded in 1956, serves 22 counties from 38 offices in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Here, offices are in Howland, Boardman, Poland, Salem and Alliance. Seventy agents work in the Howland office, Ferrebee said.
The franchise in Pennsylvania has 17 offices and about 1,000 agents, Ferrebee said.
