DOMINION ARM RECEIVES RECOGNITION: The Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association presented its 2017 Distinguished Service Award to the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation, recognizing the organization’s support of training programs for the state’s fire officers. The foundation is the charitable arm of Dominion Energy Ohio’s parent company, Dominion Energy Inc., which has contributed $550,000 in grants to the Ohio Fire and Emergency Services Foundation (OFESF) since 2006, including $50,000 for 2017, noted Paul Wright, OFESF Chairman. He said foundation support has enabled OFESF to provide training to more than 1,000 Ohio fire officers over the past 11 years. The annual award honors an individual or group that has performed outstanding services to the Ohio fire Chiefs’ Association, OFESF, and the Ohio fire service in general, Wright said.

CALDERAS INDUCTED INTO WOMEN OF NOTE CLASS: Erica L. Calderas has been inducted into the Crain’s Cleveland Business Women of Note Class of 2017. The award spotlights 16 women who not only are leaders at their companies and organizations, but also have made an impact in northeast Ohio. Calderas, a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, was selected after sharing her story about making her mark at the Hahn Loeser law firm, in the courtroom and in Cleveland. At Hahn Loeser, she is a successful litigator with over 22 years of experience, a member of the firm’s board of directors, a member of the firm’s diversity committee and has been involved in the firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative. In the Cleveland community, she has served on the board for the “Summer on the Cuyahoga” program, which exposes the best young talent to the abundance of professional opportunities in northeast Ohio. She has also been actively involved in various leadership positions with the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation throughout her career for the advancement of the legal profession.

REAL LIVING VOLPINI WINS NATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD: Real Living Volpini Realty Group, 8740 E. Market St. Suite 4, Howland, has been named one of America’s Top 35 real estate brokerages firms based on service excellence. The company, which also has an office in Boardman, won a national QE Award “that measures and independently verifies excellence in the delivery of the highest levels of customer satisfaction and service quality in real estate in North America,” according to Quality Service Certification Inc., the creators of the award. The 2017 QE Award recognizes the Top 5 Large Companies, the Top 10 Midsize Companies and the Top 20 Small Companies, spanning 22 states. The award is based upon the results of an independent survey limited to buyers and sellers who were in a real estate transaction that closed with participating real estate companies in 2016. The survey is administered by Quality Service Certification Inc. and Leading Research Corp. of San Juan Capistrano, Calif. Eligibility requires a minimum number of surveys, sent and returned, which may be adjusted year to year based on market conditions and the number of participants. More than 30,000 real estate agents and 750 companies participated in the customer satisfaction assessment survey process last year for the 2017 QE Award.

CHRISTIAN NAMED WOMAN OF THE YEAR: Shirley Christian, a local attorney with Reminger Co. and prior Mahoning County Common Pleas Court judge, will be honored as 2017 Woman of the Year Oct. 17 during National Business Women’s Week sponsored by Youngstown Business & Professional Women. The event will be at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road, Poland. Christian, while maintaining a law practice, served on the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline; chaired one of the probable cause committees of the grievances board; served on the Board of Governors with the Ohio State Bar Association; has served as president of the Mahoning County Bar Association and on the committee to evaluate Ohio Supreme Court candidates. She was recently honored by Community Legal Aid for her service in establishing a legal aid clinic. Christian has also served as a mentor in the Ohio Supreme Court Lawyer to Lawyer mentoring program for the past five years. She is a member of the Lions Club of Youngstown, Goodwill board, Women United (United Way), Nathaniel R. Jones Inns of Court, Park Vista Retirement Community board, St. Jude Catholic Church, Ohio State Bar Association and the Mahoning County Bar Association.

HONEYBAKED HAM REOPENS: Honeybaked Ham Co. recently celebrated its new look with a grand reopening and ribbon cutting. The business has added seating at its 813 Boardman Poland Road, Boardman, location.

RUBOSKY CHIROPRACTIC & WELLNESS OPENS: Dr. Steven Ruboksy of Canfield has opened Rubosky Chiropractic & Wellness, his first practice, at 4559 Boardman Canfield Road, Suite 840, Canfield. In addition to the traditional chiropractic treatments, Rubosky, a Mahoning Valley native, also offers specialized therapies and treatments for headaches and migraines. He is a graduate of Parker University College of Chiropractic, where he earned his doctor of chiropractic and bachelor’s degree in health and wellness. He is also a graduate of the Youngstown State University Williamson College of Business, where he studied business administration and marketing management. Runoksy is certified by the American Chiropractic Association, the International Chiropractic Association and the Ohio Board of Chiropractors.

TRUMBULL COUNTY CLUB ADDS TO MANAGEMENT TEAM: Andrew Tuzzeo, Amber Walley, Maria Cerni and Chad Wilkoff have joined Trumbull Country Club’s management team. Tuzzeo, general manager, has more than 20 years experience in management of private clubs and the hospitality industry. He started his career with the Ritz Carlton Hotel Co. He worked in management at several clubs across the country before returning home to Ohio. Most recently he was executive vice president at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven in Cleveland. Walley, clubhouse manager, has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 11 years. Her experience includes seven years in Las Vegas working with hotels and casinos including the MGM Grand, Trump Hotel, Bellagio and Caesar’s Palace. Her most recent position was front of the house manager at Firebirds Wood Fired Grill in Niles. Cerni, membership director, is a Youngstown area native with a background in marketing and fundraising. She most recently served as director of major gifts at Hiram College. Wilkoff, executive chef, is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University Culinary Arts program. He worked at Warren-based AVI Foodsystems, most recently as executive chef at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa.

REDA JOINS KLACIK: Christine Reda of Struthers has joined Klacik Real Estate in Poland. Reda, A Struthers High School graduate, she attended ETI Technical College in Niles for her real estate training.
