A-1 JOINS BUILDERS: A-1 Industrial Painting has joined the Builders Association as its newest member. The Struthers-based company specializes in industrial lead removal and painting.

DOLLAR GENERAL OPENS MESPO STORE: Dollar General has opened a store in Mesopotamia at 4290 Kinsman Road. The Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based company said its stores typically employ from six to 10 people, depending on need.

SHEPHERD OF THE VALLEY OPENS POLAND FACILITY: Shepherd of the Valley recently celebrated the opening of its new center for skilled nursing and rehabilitation in Poland with a ribbon cutting. The 32-bed, skilled nursing unit added 24,645 square feet to the existing assisted living center. The building has three neighborhoods, all with private rooms and private full bathrooms. The common areas were designed with residents in mind and include an outdoor patio and a happy hour lounge. The therapy suite is more than 1,900 square feet and includes a pool with treadmill capabilities.

People on the move

EVENT DESIGNER NAMED: W. Rick Schilling has been named event designer at Allen Inn & Event Center, overseeing onsite planning for weddings and special event decor. Schilling spent more than 30 years as a theatrical designer and instructor at Youngstown State University and has more than 20 of experience in various areas of event design and production.

REAL LIVING WELCOMES BATLEY: Joy Batley has joined Real Living Volpini Realty Group as a new associate. Batley earned her real estate training from Eastern Gateway Community College. She also attended Beaver County Community College where she studied criminal justice. She was a security officer for Shippingport Nuclear Power Plant, an information systems department computer operator at Michael Baker International, and a quality analyst manager at Infocision. She has also owned rentals for more than 20 years. She is a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), the Ohio Association of Realtors (OAR) and the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors (YCAR). She and her husband, Timmie Sr., live in Boardman.

AGUEDA NAMED BUILDERS DIRECTOR: Longtime regional construction veteran Howard Agueda has been named new director of association services for the Builders Association. His duties include assisting employers in negotiating local union construction trade contracts, working with some of those same trades on their apprenticeship programs, serving as a trustee on various craft insurance and pension plans, and working on member enrichment and educational opportunities. Agueda is a lifelong resident of Trumbull County and holds associate degrees from Youngstown State University in drafting and design technology and civil engineering technology. He has worked in the northeast Ohio construction industry as an estimator and project manager and was most recently subcontractor manager for Valley Electrical Consolidated Inc. before joining The Builders. He, his wife, Lesley, and daughter, Jenna, reside in Brookfield.
