Area gas prices rise slightly
WARREN — Average gas prices across
the Mahoning Valley rose about 4 cents on
Tuesday over the previous week, but
remained lower than they were the same
time last month.
In the Warren-Youngstown area, the
average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline
was $2.07 versus $2.03 the prior week, $2.12
a month ago and $1.62 a year ago, according
to national auto club AAA.
Statewide, a regular gallon of gas averaged
$2.09 on Tuesday, $2.12 the prior week,
$2.16 a month ago and $1.70 the same time
last year.
Average national gas prices remained
steady at $2.28 per regular gallon on Tuesday
and the prior week.
However, the cost was $2.32 a month ago
and $1.71 a year ago.
Prices continue to remain relatively flat
because of lower driving demand and an
oversupplied market as a result of
increased U.S. production, AAA said.
As refinery maintenance season begins
and driving demand increases, consumers
could expect to see some of the gasoline
supply in the U.S. soaked up, according to
the auto club.
