Hollywood gaming sees an increase in wagering

AUSTINTOWN — Wagering at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course was up last month compared to December 2015.

The Austintown facility saw $82.26 million in credits played, compared to $77 million in December 2015. In November, $80.83 million credits were played, according to numbers released this week by the Ohio Lottery Commission. The commission oversees video lottery terminals, or VLTs, in the state.

At the racino in December, $73.24 million credits were won by gamers, up from $69 million credits the same month last year and $72 million credits won in November.

Net winnings were at $8 million in December, up from $7.8 million the same month last year and $7.8 million in November.

The percent payout increase was 90.26 in December, up from 89.89 the same month last year and comparable to the 90.39 it was in November.

In December, the win per VLT per day was $263, down from $268 the same month in 2015 and $264 in November.

Of the net winnings in December, $5.3 million went to Penn National Gaming Inc., the Wyomissing, Pa., company that operates the Austintown racino; $2.68 million went to the state lottery commission; and $26,641 went to problem-gambling services.

Last month at the Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway, also owned by Penn National, there were $79.54 million in credits played compared to $74.4 million in December. In November, $74.32 million credits were played.

At Dayton, $70.84 million credits were won by gamers, up from $65.95 million credits the same month last year and $65.9 million credits won in November. Net winnings were at $7.6 million in December, up from $7.5 million the same month last year and$7.2 million in November.

The percent payout increased to 90.43 in December, up from 89.88 the same month last year and 90.30 in November.

In December, the win per VLT per day was $244, down from $245 the same month in 2015, but the same as it was in November.

Of the net winnings in December, $5 million went to Penn National Gaming Inc.; $2.55 million went to the state lottery commission; and $25,301 went to problem-gambling services.

Statewide, VLT wagering at Ohio’s seven racinos totaled $815 million last month, up from $800 million in December 2015 and $773 million in November. Credits won last month were at $728 million, up from $714 million in December 2015 and $690 million in November.

Last month, net winnings statewide were $73.6 million, up from $72.72 million in December 2015 and $70 million in November. The percentage payout last month was 90.97, the same as in November, and 90.9 in December 2015.
