DePASCALE EARNS DESIGNATION: Joe DePascale of Farmers Trust Co. has been awarded the professional plan consultant designation from fi360. It signifies specialized training on retirement plan management and administration and ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) compliance; is the culmination of a rigorous training program, including a comprehensive, closed-book final examination under the supervision of a proctor; and an agreement to abide by the ethics code and conduct standards. Ongoing completion of continuing education and adherence to the code of ethics and conduct standards are required to maintain the designation. DePascale, a resident of Poland, is also a certified public accountant / personal financial specialist, certified financial planner and accredited fiduciary investment analyst for Farmers Trust Co. where he serves as president. He specializes in income, estate, retirement and financial planning. Pittsburgh area-based fi360 is a full-time training and research facility for fiduciaries, and conducts training programs throughout the United States and abroad.

REAL LIVING NAMES TOP PRODUCERS: Real Living Brokers Realty Group announced top producers for the fourth quarter 2016 and introduced newly promoted agents during a first-quarter meeting. Michael Schaeffer, with the most volume recorded, was named top sales agent. He began his real estate career in 2013. Melissa Palmer, who has been an agent since 2006, received the most listings. Both have spent their real estate careers’ with Real Living Brokers Realty Group. Introduced were established agents recently promoted to Real Living Brokers Group Carie Rivera, Carla Savko and Anthony Burrus.

BEDICH INSTALLED SOCIETY PRESIDENT: Cortland Dentist Dr. Joseph D. Bedich was installed as Corydon Palmer Dental Society’s 2017 president Friday during the organization’s membership meeting Friday. Bedich, a Howland native and graduate of Miami University, earned his DDS degree from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1988. He completed a general practice residency at the Buffalo General Hospital while teaching there and at the State University of New York Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He returned to the Warren area in 1992 and now operates the Center For Progressive Dentistry. He is a Fellow and Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Implantology / Implant Dentistry. He and his wife, Robin, have two sons, Joseph and Daniel. Other officers installed were: Dr. Daniel DeAngelo, president-elect; Dr. Jeffrey Caldwell, vice-president; Dr. Lori Fitzgerald, secretary, and Dr. Thomas Gabriel, treasurer. The society is the local component of the Ohio Dental Association and the American Dental Association and represents member dentists in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties.

LIBERTY TAX REOPENS IN YOUNGSTOWN: Liberty Tax Service recently reopened its Youngstown location at 2633 Market St. The office is owned and operated by a team of tax experts and Byron Huffman, who started the local franchise in 2010. The office manager is Jessica Popio, one of the partners in the business.

NEW DELIVERY SERVICE ANNOUNCED: Valley Delivered Goods, a grocery and restaurant delivery service in Mahoning and Trumbull counties, delivers restaurant takeout from various area restaurants. The business also offers grocery shopping services and runs errands for customers.

RIES JOINS HHM: Matthew M. Ries, an employment and civil litigation lawyer, has been named a member / owner in the regional law firm of Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell Ltd. Ries, the firm’s 13th member, has been a lawyer since 2008, focusing on employment law and business litigation. He was recently recognized as a “Rising Star” by the Super Lawyers organization and as a “25 Under 35” award winner by the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals. In 2015, Ries received a Community Service Award from the Ohio State Bar Foundation. He serves on the board of directors of the Warren City Schools Foundation and is a high school mock trial coach and advisor. A graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Ries holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the Farmer School of Business at Miami University in Oxford and a juris doctorate from the Capital University Law School in Columbus.

TEAMNEO NAMES DIRECTOR: Team Northeast Ohio (Team NEO), an economic development organization, appointed Mindy McLaughlin as director of international business development. She will serve as a member of the Team NEO Industry and Innovation department involved in the active recruitment of new business investment to Northeast Ohio focusing on international business. She will also work with Northeast Ohio organizations to promote international business. McLaughlin joins Team NEO from JobsOhio where she served as senior manager, global sales operations. She is a graduate of Ashland University with a degree in political science with minors in economics and French.

FARMERS EXPANDS WITH NEW HIRE: Farmers Trust Co. has named Dale Standley of Salem to serve as vice president and portfolio manager, serving clients in Mahoning and Columbiana counties out of the Youngstown office. Before his position at Farmers, Standley worked as a portfolio manager for Huntington Wealth and Investment Management, a financial advisor at First National Bank Wealth Management and as a portfolio manager at PNC Wealth Management. He was also an active member of the Portfolio Risk Committee, gaining experience in regulatory compliance issues. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics and has been teaching economics as an adjunct professor at Youngstown State University since 1993.

MANNIK & SMITH NAME BOKROS SHAREHOLDER: Mannik & Smith Group Inc. named Sheri L. Bokros as a shareholder to the ownership group, effective Jan. 1. Bokros serves as vice president of business development and has been with the firm for more than 12 years. She is responsible for strategic planning, business development and the promotion of long-term client relationships. She also directs marketing and sales efforts in the firm’s 11 offices throughout Ohio and Michigan and is credited with helping to improve MSG’s market position while achieving steady and consistent growth. The daughter of Andrew and Renee Bokros of Karen Drive in Mineral Ridge, Bokros, a resident of Perrysburg, graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in 2000 and earned her bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Toledo.
