Covelli acquires more stores in S.C. , Georgia

WARREN — Covelli Enterprises, headquartered in Warren, has acquired 22 additional Panera Bread bakery-cafes in South Carolina and Georgia, raising its number of restaurants to 300 in six states and Canada.

Covelli, the largest franchisee of the cafes, now owns restaurants in midland and lowland South Carolina and Georgia, including bakery-cafes in the respective capitals, Columbia and Augusta, as well as coastal towns of Charleston, Hilton Head and Savannah. A Myrtle Beach location is slated to open soon.

Covelli owner Sam Covelli stated, “Coastal Carolina and Georgia is a region our franchise is eager to tap into. This is a beautiful part of the country, where many from my home state of Ohio often visit for vacations and have even relocated their families.

“We look forward to serving those who live, work and travel to this region.

“This franchise is committed to bring the loyal Panera Bread customers in South Carolina and Georgia the best food, served by the friendliest employees, in the cleanest restaurants possible, all while giving back to the local communities in any way we can,” Covelli said in news release.

The franchise opened 21 bakery-cafes in the Cincinnati region in April. Covelli said he is looking for more growth in Ohio and Canada, as well as South Carolina and Georgia in the coming years.
