City buys more land for Vallourec project
YOUNGSTOWN – The city of Youngstown on Thursday agreed to purchase 8.2 acres of land from Norfolk Southern Railway Company for use by Vallourec on a planned expansion in the city.
The city’s Board of Control agreed to the purchase price of $329,320 for the land located near other property where Vallourec is planning renovations and construction of a new pipe threading plant.
VAM USA, LLC, a sister company to Vallourec Star, announced this month it would build the new $81.5 million pipe threading plant beginning next month. The plant will add at least 80 new jobs and a $2.9 million annual payroll to the local economy.
