Sam’s plans renovation

WARREN – Plans are in the works for a total remodel of the Sam’s Club store at 1040 Niles-Cortland Road.

The company submitted drawings calling for $1.7 million in a “top-to-bottom” renovation, Warren City Building Inspector Chris Taneyhill said this week, but a Sam’s Club spokeswoman said the work is not expected to be complete until mid- to late-2014, although she noted that date is tentative and subject to change.

“The Warren Sam’s Club location is one of more than 80 clubs to undergo remodeling and ‘refreshment’ next year,” said Carrie Moore, senior manager of public relations for Sam’s Club. She said once the work begins, shoppers should not experience any interruption in service or access to merchanidse.

Taneyhill said the plans were submitted earlier this year, and a conditional permit has been approved by the city building department but has not yet been picked up by company representatives.

Sam’s Club relocated from Niles to the new 139,080-square-foot facility in Warren about seven years ago, Taneyhill said.
