Farmers names interim chief

CANFIELD – The board of directors of Farmers National Banc Corp. on Friday appointed Kevin J. Helmick to interim president and chief executive officer of the corporation and its subsidiary, Farmers National Bank of Canfield.

The move follows the Sept. 30 dismissal John of S. Gulas as president and chief executive officer of the corporation and the bank. The board also provided Gulas notice of termination of his employment effective Nov. 4, 2013, in accordance with the terms and conditions of his employment agreement from 2011.

Helmick, 41, will hold the position until a permanent successor to Gulas has been named. Helmick has served as the executive vice president and secretary of the company and executive vice president – retail and wealth management of the bank since January 2012. Prior to that, Helmick was the bank’s vice president of wealth management and retail services since 2008.

The board of directors stated in a release that it is confident the team has the knowledge and skill to continue leading the company to new levels of success. Recently, Farmers National Banc Corp. received high praise from a nationally respected publication in the banking and financial services community, according to the release

Farmers National Banc Corp. is a financial services company headquartered in Canfield, with more than $1 billion in banking assets and $1 billion in trust assets.

The bank was founded in 1887.
