Youngstown city has fixed rate for gas program

YOUNGSTOWN – Youngstown officials have established a 12-month rate for natural gas for members of the city’s program.

Mayor Chuck Sammarone said residents in the city’s natural gas program supplied by IGS Energy will pay a fixed rate of $4.59 per mcf for all gas consumed during the billing cycle months of November 2013 to October 2014.

Sammarone said the program is offered as another option in an attempt to manage energy costs and the new rate is competitive to what residents can obtain on their own at this time.

Deputy Finance Director Kyle Miasek said residents and small businesses currently in the program will receive a rate change notice from IGS Energy in September and do not need to do anything to remain in the program.
