Sixth gas processing plant, pipeline planned

UHRICHSVILLE – Ohio is getting its sixth natural gas processing plant tied to shale drilling – plus a new pipeline that will carry liquids to the Gulf Coast.

The plant is planned for Uhrichsville in Tuscarawas County, eastern Ohio. The associated pipeline would carry natural gas liquids from Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties in Ohio along with Pennsylvania and West Virginia to the Gulf Coast for further processing.

Estimates have put the cost for the projects at up to $1 billion.

The pipeline would run from the plant converting 900 miles of the existing Tennessee Gas pipeline from northeast Ohio to Natchitoches, La., from natural gas to liquids.

The project was announced Wednesday by Houston-based Kinder Morgan Energy Partners and Denver-based MarkWest Utica EMG.
