Youngstown, Warren centers are on Salem summit agenda
SALEM – Presentations from Youngstown and Warren business incubators are among a lengthy list scheduled for a Columbiana County Economic Summit here next month.
Teaming for Success, the 2013 Columbiana County Economic Summit, will be held at the Salem Community Center from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. May 6. The one-day event’s theme is “Growing Northeast Ohio’s Competitiveness” and this is the fourth year for the summit that rotates from Salem to East Liverpool each year.
The National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Initiative from the Youngstown Business Incubator is on the agenda, something which Larry Kosiba, executive director of the Sustainable Opportunity Development Center (SOD Center), said will be “kind of exciting.”
Warren’s Tech Belt Energy Innovation Center is set for a 1 p.m. presentation by the agency’s Chief Executive of Regional Operations Dave Nestic, who also is a Salem city councilman.
TBEIC, a federally funded center aimed at the development and commercialization of early-stage clean technologies, connects universities, industrial and government scientific entities with emerging ventures engaged in the process of bringing new technology to market. The center is housed in the Wean Foundation offices in downtown Warren, but eventually plans to move next door.
Also on the agenda for the May 6 summit is TeamNEO that was established in 2003 by FirstEnergy Corp., the Greater Akron Chamber, the Stark Development Board, the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce, the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber, and the Greater Cleveland Partnership and is aimed at strengthening the region’s economic development.
