Honors planned for chamber event
CANFIELD – Two community and business leaders will be honored during a Good Morning, Canfield breakfast sponsored by the Regional Chamber next month.
Canfield Mayor Bill Kay will receive the Spirit of Canfield Award for his work promoting and improving the community. Kay spent 34 years as a teacher, coach and principal in the Canfield Schools and has been mayor since 2006.
This year’s Canfield Area Council Business Pride Award will go to Mark Cole, owner of Peaberry’s Cafe & Bakery. The award is given to a business in the city or township that exemplifies ethical, moral and professional standards in the workplace and has contributed to local economic development.
Peaberry’s, which has been in business since 1993 and has been in Canfield since 2002, has long maintained a tradition of treating its employees and customers as family, as well as donating time and products to many charitable causes in the Canfield community, according to the Regional Chamber.
Those attending the event also will hear about the latest city and township news from members of Canfield High School’s Speech and Debate team, who were named first-time state champions in March.
The breakfast is 7:15 a.m. May 17 at A la Carte Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. There is a fee, and registration is required and can be made by calling 330-744-2131, Ext. 12, or emailing email@example.com.
