Junket flights start at airport

VIENNA – Republic Airlines, doing business as Frontier, on Friday launched service to Atlantic City, N.J., from the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport, port officials said.

Republic will be providing low-frequency casino junket service to gaming destinations like Atlantic City, Gulfport-Biloxi, La., Tunica, Miss., New Orleans and possibly Las Vegas. The airline uses a 90-seat Embraer 190 Regional Jet Aircraft.

Western Reserve Port Authority Director of Aviation Dan Dickten said the port plans to meet in March with officials from United and possibly other passenger carriers as part of its ongoing attempt to draw regularly scheduled connector flights from the Vienna airport.
