Dana Holiday Concert fills Stambaugh with seasonal favorites

YOUNGSTOWN — Several Dana School of Music ensembles will perform songs of the season at the annual Carols & Cocoa and Dana Holiday Concert at Stambaugh Auditorium.

The evening begins in Stambaugh’s Christman Ballroom with Carols & Cocoa, featuring seasonal favorites performed by the Dana Clarinet Ensemble, Dana Flute Ensemble, Trombone Ensemble, Stambaugh Chorus, Horn Choir, Dana Chorale, the Youngstown State University Barbershop Chorus One Achord and the Festival Symphonic Choir.

The program will conclude with an audience holiday singalong.

At intermission cocoa provided by Stambaugh Auditorium and cookies shared by Dana School of Music students will be available in the upper lobby before the start of the second concert.

The music moves to the main auditorium for the Dana Holiday concert for a program directed by Hae-Jong Lee and featuring the YSU Wind Ensemble, Dana String Ensemble, Dana Chorale and the Festival Symphonic Choir.

Individual faculty performing include Misook Yun, soprano; Christopher Krummel, trumpet; Cicilia Yudha, harpsichord; and Joseph Krumholz, violin. Kathryn Davison Miller, organ, and Jack Ciarniello, piano will also perform.

The Hickory High School Chamber Singers and the Stambaugh Chorus are guest performers.

The seasonal repertoire will include “Gloria” by Karl Jenkins as well as a other holiday selections.

The event starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Tickets are $11 for adults and $6 for non-YSU students and senior citizens.
