Students display study abroad work

The work of students who participated in a Youngstown State University study abroad program in Scotland will display their work at Bliss Hall’s Judith Rae Solomon Gallery.

This was the first year for the program, sponsored by the art department. Over the course of a month, students worked under the instruction of Associate Professor Joseph D’Uva at the Glasgow Print Studio, an internationally-acclaimed studio facility and gallery located in the heart of Glasgow’s City Centre.

Students created their artwork alongside some of Great Britain’s most prominent artists and master printers while studying various techniques in intaglio, relief printing, screen-printing and drawing.

D’Uva also led weekly class excursions throughout the region, visiting exhibitions, museums, and significant landmarks, including trips to: Stirling Castle, Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh, Glasgow Cathedral and sites bordering Loch Lomond (Scottish Highlands).

Participating students featured in the exhibition, titled “Geeza a wee exhib,” are Anthony Angelilli, Francesca Baldarelli, Baily Brocker, Andrea Chemero, Michael DeMarco, Emily Fetsko, Allie Gant, Chauncey Hay, Amanda Spinosa and Holly Yarab.

The show runs Monday through Oct. 26 with a reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the gallery. Admission is free. For more information, call 330-941-2307.
