Program tells tale of ‘Old Pacific’

“The Legend of Old Pacific: America’s Pioneer Road Trip” will be the subject of a “Coffee & Donut” seminar program at the National Packard Museum, 1899 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.

In the summer of 1903, the Packard Motor Car Company of Warren embarked on a bold publicity stunt, a cross-country road trip from San Francisco to New York City. With no maps and few roads east of the Mississippi, Old Pacific conquered mountains, desert, and swamps in an epic 63-day journey across America. Its triumph was a publicity coup, demonstrating Packard’s durability and reliability, and establishing a reputation for automotive quality that would endure for 50 more years.

The program starts at noon Saturday and is free with paid admission to the museum. For more information, call 330-394-1899.
