TNT adds online tickets for sale

Trumbull New Theatre audience members no longer will have to listen to a busy signal. The Niles community theater has added an online ticketing system for purchases.

Lisa Bennett, secretary for the theater, said it has been in the works since spring.

“The computer system we had been using, which was little more than a database operation, collapsed, but we were already talking about the need to take credit cards,” she said. “Our older audience understood we didn’t take credit cards, but the younger generation doesn’t carry cash.”

The ticketing system TNT is using is operated by the California-based Tix.

“Their fees were the most reasonable, and I thought they would be the most user-friendly,” Bennett said.

Theatergoers will be able to access the online ticketing at TNT’s website,, and buyers will be able to pick their seats. The system was available for TNT’s last production, “Always … Patsy Cline,” as a soft opening / trial run, but it will be in full use for “Second Time Around,” which opens Friday.

“Most of the problems we had were simply the learning curve,” Bennett said. “Until you get things up and running, you think you know it all, but then you find something you missed.”

While the system will allow people to buy tickets anytime instead of during the theater’s limited box office hours, theatergoers still will be able to call 330-652-1103 between 7 and 9 p.m. weekdays and make reservations the same way they always have.

“Last week (when the box office opened to subscribers), we were never off the phone,” Bennett said. “Now the person struggling to get through won’t have to wait.”
