TAG announces February classes

Trumbull Art Gallery is accepting registrations for five February classes.

Keith Haring will be the subject of February’s Artist Tribute Series. Participants will create images in the style of Haring’s “subway art” and use it to raise awareness about issues that are important to them. The class will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 3, and the cost is $25.

Introduction to clay sculpture will focus on modeling and forming clay to produce realistic facial, neck and shoulder features, and students will learn to sculpt differences in gender, age and ethnicity. The class meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays from Feb. 13 to 27, and the cost is $70, including supplies.

Clay medley for beginning and continuing students will cover the fundamentals of clay techniques used in hand-building and on the pottery wheel. The class will explore pinching, coiling, slab building, pottery wheel and glaze application techniques.

The class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from Feb. 5 to 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $120 for either session.

Drawing for Your Lifetime-Part 1 is designed for first-time students and is a drawing course based on the book “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” by Betty Edwards. It will meet from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays from Feb. 6 to 27, and the cost is $50 plus some supplies.

Mixed media will focus on the many aspects of the style with students learning a wide variety of mixed media techniques as well as other enhancements and compositional techniques. It meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays from Feb. 14 to 28, and the cost is $30 plus supplies.
