Mall gallery features Hubbard, Mineral Ridge students
NILES — The first of five exhibitions featuring the work of area students is on display at the Art Outreach Gallery.
Running through Jan. 28 is the work of students in Josh MacMillan’s art classes at Hubbard High School and Julie Edwards’ classes at Mineral Ridge High School.
The showcase of student artwork is made possible through a partnership involving the art teachers, school administrators from the participating schools, the Art Outreach Gallery and the Eastwood Mall Complex.
The teachers are the creators of the shows. They volunteer to inventory, hang and label the students work, plan the opening receptions and pick up the artwork. The teachers, Key Clubs, National Honor Society students and others from the schools volunteer at the gallery during the hours of operation. If the students want to sell their artwork, the teachers are the contact person for the sales to occur.
Other exhibitions planned during the 2017-18 school year include:
l Feb. 9-25 — Mahoning County Career and Technical Center and Warren City Schools
l March 9-April 2 — Canfield High School and Boardman Middle School
l April 6-22 — Champion Middle School
l April 27-May 13 — Career Technical Education (CTE) Exhibition featuring work by students from Ashtabula Technical and Career Campus, Choffin Career and Technical Center, Columbiana County Career and Technical Center, Mahoning County Career and Technical Center and Trumbull Career and Technical Center
