TAG offers art classes starting in January
Registrations are being accepted for three January classes at Trumbull Art Gallery.
Clay hand-building, for students ages 18 and older, will cover the fundamentals of hand building as students learn pinching, coiling, slab building and glaze application techniques. Advanced students will be able to work on expanding their ideas and refining their skills.
The class, taught by Jesse Wilson, will meet Mondays and Wednesdays between Jan. 8 and 31, and students can register either for an afternoon session from 1 to 3 p.m. or an evening session from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost for the eight classes is $120 and includes all supplies.
Introduction to watercolors, taught by Linda Scharf, will cover various techniques as students complete three types of watercolor paintings — flowers, still life and landscape. It will meet from 1 to 3 or 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays from Jan. 4 to 25. The cost for the four sessions is $40 and includes initial supplies.
A class offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 6 will teach students how to create watercolor paintings in the style of Henri Matisse, a post-impressionist artist known for his use of color and expressive, decorative and often monumental paintings.
All of the classes will take place at Trumbull Art Gallery, 158 N. Park Ave., Warren. Call 330-395-4876 for registration.
