YSO presenting Christmas Movie Magic

Christmas Movie Magic is the theme of the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra’s holiday pops concert.

Joining the orchestra and conductor Randall Craig Fleischer will be the singing and dancing duo of Kirby and Beverly Ward, who will perform such holiday favorites as “White Christmas” and “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” as well as movie standards like “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Cheek to Cheek” and “I Got Rhythm.”

Kirby Ward is a song-and-dance man who had a leading role in the London production of “Crazy for You” and U.S productions of “My One and Only,” “42nd Street,” “Singin’ in the Rain” and “No No Nanette.” As a choreographer, he worked with Bette Midler and James Caan on the film “For the Boys” and choreographed Debbie Reynolds’ and Donald O’Connor’s Las Vegas act.

As a teenager, Beverly Ward toured with Ann Miller and Mickey Rooney in “Sugar Babies,” and she appeared on Broadway in “Crazy for You” and “Epic Proportions.”

Also on the program will be the Boardman Children’s Choir, under the direction of Robert Pavalko, performing “Where Are You, Christmas?” from the film version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and the St. Rose Elementary School Choir, under the direction of Nate Zunic, performing ” My Favorite Things” from “The Sound of Music.”

The concert starts at 8 p.m. Saturday at Powers Auditorium, 260 W. Federal St., Youngstown. Tickets range from $20 to $55 and are available at the DeYor Performing Arts Center box office, online at www.youngs-townsymphony.com and by calling 330-744-0264.
