Kids First Initiative presenting ‘Annie Jr.’

The Oakland Center for the Art’s Kids First Theatre Initiative will stage “Annie Jr.” for a two-weekend run starting Friday at Trinity Fellowship Church.

Donna Downie directs this youth theater production of the musical that tells the story of an orphan girl who warms the heart of a tough business mogul. Featuring the songs “It’s a Hard Knocks Life,” “Easy Street” and “Tomorrow,” “Annie” won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and ran for nearly six years on Broadway.

The cast features Anna Sophia Viccari, Lydia Andres, Gianna Franklin, Alexa Vargo, Harper Liller, Zoe Anderson, Genevieve Quinlan, Briana Wagner-Matijevic, Connor Pauley, Olivia Garland, Alyssa Long, Nicholas McGoogan, Connor Pavlicko, Daniel Gordiejew, Abby Gerchak, Alivia Franklin, Adrianna Quinlan, Lynnz Gonzalez, Ryan Lamb, Lily Weiss, Finn O’Hara, Alexa McCaughtry, Jake Platt, Anna Toy, Lana Dougherty, Aubrey Dejacimo, Kyleigh Kuebler, Lillian Williams, Annalise Terlecki, Aubrey Middlestead, Katie Bugzavich Gianna Doran, Anna Livesay, Kasey Kelly, Katie Bugzavich, Nevaeh Alkire, Raquel Allison, Caroline Capuzello, Carly Frommelt, Corina Garland, Nathan Garland, Molly Gerchak, Hannah Harnutovsky, Autumn Matijevic, Logan Pauley and Savanna Watkins.

The assistant director is Alex Sanders from Canfield. He is part of the Oakland’s Acorn Project, a program that allows area high school students to be involved with all the technical aspects of theater while being mentored by a theater professional and receive a stipend for their work on productions.

“Annie Jr.” will be stage at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday through Oct. 22 at Trinity Fellowship Church, 4749 South Ave., Boardman. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students and will be available at the door.
