YSU Wind Ensemble presents outdoor ‘Movie Magic’ concert

The Youngstown State University Wind Ensemble will play an outdoor pops concert on Wednesday.

“Movie Magic” will feature selections that have been a part of movie soundtracks and performed on the Broadway stage. Conductor Stephen L. Gage will lead the ensemble in a program featuring music from “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves,” “Sheltering Sky,” “Porgy and Bess” and “West Side Story” as well as George Gershwin’s “Strike Up the Band,” John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever” march and an Armed Forces salute.

The concert will be staged at Harrison Common Field on Walnut Street across from the MVR Club.

According to Gage, “Harrison Common is an outstanding venue for this music and the YSU Wind Ensemble is enthusiastically looking forward to performing a pops concert under the open sky in our first concert of the semester.”

The music starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and admission is free. Those attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and snacks. No alcohol is permitted at the concert.

In the event of inclement weather, the rain location is Room 2326 located in Bliss Hall. For more information, call 330-941-2307.
