Free outdoor film series starts Saturday

The first of four free outdoor movies planned for the summer in Warren is scheduled Saturday.

The series is presented by The Robins Project and the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County, which partner with a different group or church for each screening. Funding is provided by a Raymond John Wean Foundation Neighborhood SUCCESS grant.

The series opens with the 2015 animated feature “Home,” the story of an alien from another planet who teams up with an Earth girl for a series of misadventures. The voice cast features Jim Parsons, Rihanna, Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez.

It will be shown at dusk Saturday at Restoration Christian Fellowship, 760 Main Ave. SW, Warren. Entertainment starts at 7:30 p.m. with Balloon Craze Jaze.

Other films in the series include:

• June 23 — “Queen of Katwe” (2016), in partnership with Chess Is Life at the Warren Community Amphitheatre, 321 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. Before the movie will be Ohio Chautauqua on the Kinsman House grounds with the Stephen Foster Chorus Barbershoppers at 6:30 p.m. and Dianne Moran as Dian Fossey at 7:30 p.m.

• July 7 — “The Secret Life of Pets” (2016) in partnership with and shown at Trinity Baptist Church, 235 Highland Ave. SW. Jungle Terry and his wild animal friends will entertain starting at 7:30 p.m.

• July 29 — “Sing” (2016), in partnership with the Loop Group at Circle Park on Central Parkway SE. Entertainment at 7:30 p.m. features Balloon Craze Jaze and magician Eric Thompson.
