Butler offers summer arts camp

The Butler Institute of American Art is accepting registration applications for its two-week Summer Visual Arts Day Camp at its Trumbull Branch, 9350 E. Market St., Howland.

The camp runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 18 to 21 and 25 to 28 and is open to children ages 8 to 12. This year’s theme is “Journeys in American Art,” and participants will learn about America’s history while which being inspired to create their own drawings, paintings, prints and sculptures that evoke the essence of America and its many regional art styles.

Campers will spend their last morning of camp on a docent-led tour of the Butler’s main museum in Youngstown followed by lunch. An exhibition of the students’ work created during the camp will be on view at the Butler-Trumbull on the last day of the program from 1 to 2 p.m. July 28.

The cost is $135, and families with more than one child attending the receive a 10 percent discount. Registration forms can be requested by emailing mkamenitsa@butlerart.com or joycemistovich@butlerart.com and by calling 234-228-8505. Campers will be notified of acceptance by email.
