Youth Theatre presents ‘Pinocchio’

Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre opens its 2016-17 season with “Pinocchio.”

Carlo Collodi’s timeless tale of a little wooden boy who wanted to be real is adapted by Kathryn Schultz Miller, and it will be performed by a cast of more than 20 performers directed by David El’Hatton.

Jabril Jackson plays the title role, and Terry Shears is Gepetto, the man who creates the marionette. Lending support are AuBrey DeJacimo as “Hickory” Cricket, Sophia McHenry-Cameneti as the Blue Fairy, Hannah Boyle as Lucky Star and David McCune III as Lampwick. The rest of the cast includes Halina Bakeris, Lauren Bero, Sarah Bero, Audriana Brancker, Liam Corey, Owen Corey, Miah Dattilo, Kenny Day, Isabel Dutton, Savanah Dutton, Carly Frommelt, Maeve Law, Jacob Mays, Damon Perry, Julia Pickens, Olivia Pickens and Mikey Zoccali.

Public performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane.
